DFKI is an internationally known, leading research institute for such fields as intelligent user interfaces, information management and intelligent co-operation systems. Innovative solutions for test and integration tasks in
the telecommunications environment are a speciality of Saarbrücken-based consistec Engineering & Consulting GmbH.
In the ADANIAN research project, both players are now bundling their expertise in order to develop a quality assurance system for data services in high-speed networks.
A solution which contains a great deal of future potential. consistec and DFKI’s joint ADANIAN research and development co-operation project is being supported accordingly by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
This covers six person years of research and development by consistec GmbH for the ADANIAN research and development part project.
"We see the promotion of our ZIM co-operation project with DFKI through the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology as confirmation of the innovative power of our company. More cutting-edge technology is to be created at the interface between research and the economy which contributes to the further development of our product. With the ADANIAN solution, production introduction times and the time and effort required for monitoring data services are significantly reduced. The use of artificial intelligence creates completely new possibilities which make further market potentials accessible", explains consistec’s general manager for research and development, Dr. Thomas Sinnwell.
ADANIAN stands for the adaptive recording of network traffic and the intelligent application monitoring of distributed network services. The aim of the project is a quality assurance system for data services in high-speed networks with data rates of up to 10 Gbit/second.
Data services are an important part of mobile and fixed phone lines – both with regard to control of the networks and the profit situation.
As part of service-oriented architectures, data services are also gaining importance in IT organisations. Nevertheless, only partial aspects of the quality and performance of data services are currently monitored.
ADANIAN therefore aims at monitoring and intelligently analysing the processing layer, the so-called application layer, at high data rates. In order to achieve this aim it must be guaranteed that all data packages are recorded loss-free in order to permit complete TCP reconstruction even under load conditions.
Alongside this, automatic load adaptation and also machine-supported topology recognition including the intelligent correlation of requests and the initial information pertaining to the request in the application layer must be guaranteed.
