The percentage of the population over 65 years of age is expected to rise from approximately 32 percent today to 50 percent by the year 2030. This will have far-reaching consequences for society. The life choices of both the old and young will be impacted significantly by this development. The primary focus for older people will be the desire for independence and autonomy – and for as long as possible This is where technical concepts such as “Ambient Assisted Living (AAL)” and intelligent care concepts come into play. AAL refers to assistance systems that provide people with the best possible, ideally imperceptible, support in their daily activities. These types of systems enable people to lead independent, self-determined lives for a longer period of time. Family members and caregivers are supported in their roles and have their burden reduced.
Forward-looking technology solutions will be designed and developed by combining the communications technology and software development know how of consistec with the competencies of the other AndraTec eG specialists in the areas of health, nursing, and AAL. These solutions will focus on application areas such as “intelligent house”, medical and safety engineering, optimization of nursing and care processes, as well as mobility. The solutions will result in an improved quality of life and cost reductions in the areas of health and nursing care, while reducing the burden on the younger generation in their roles as family members and caregivers.
